The goings-on in the lives of Paul, Whitney, Katie, and Nicholas Pyzowski. The primary audience for this journal is our extended family and friends, although Paul sometimes posts items related to his professional and community life. Today was the Pack 135 Pinewood Derby. Nicholas raced the Eagle Streaker, and Katie actually build her own car - the Silver Phoenix - out of Nicholas' scrap. The officials were nice enough to let Katie get a few runs on the track. Nicholas didn't win, but hopefully got a life lesson out of it.

Usually we highlight Katie's school art, so we wanted to be fair to Nicholas. His class made a "mosaic table" for the Schofield school auction, each student working on a section. Nicholas' "N" is in the upper left-hand corner.

Nicholas finally scraped together enough money - birthday money, allowance earned by doing chores, and residual value on a Lego gift card from Christmas 2007 - to purchase the Lego Power Miners Crystal Sweeper set. This is the last piece, so his Power Miners set is now complete!

One of Katie's major school projects this year was for the Regions Fair. Each student in fourth grade is assigned a state, and is required to prepare a written report, project poster board, and independent project on said state. Katie drew Minnesota. Among the interesting facts she learned was that Minnesota has four seasons - early winter, winter, late winter, and road construction. And that pro-wrestlers can become governors of states.
Below are pictures of the Fair, with parents in attendance. Katie was dressed as a Minnesota viking. For her project she created a landscape of a Minnesota outdoor scene, with depictions of state animals, including loons.

This is the first weekend with spring like temperature (50s) - snow is finally starting to melt. We spent part of Sunday afternoon with friends at the local park.

Paul, Whitney, Katherine (Katie), and Nicholas Pyzowski currently live in Massachusetts, just west of Boston. We have previously lived in Switzerland, Japan, and Pittsburgh. Katie was born in May 1999 while we were living in Switzerland, and Nicholas was born in March 2002 in Massachusetts. Paul was raised in Washington, Pennsylvania, USA. His parents and younger brother Tom still live there. Whitney was raised near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but her parents now live in Wellfleet, Massachusetts where they own and operate the Oyster Cove Bed and Breakfast. Paul and Whitney both graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University. Paul graduated in electrical engineering department in 1988; he is also an alumnus of Sigma Tau Gamma's Delta Xi Chapter. Whitney was an industrial management major, and was a member of Delta Delta Delta's Alpha Tau Chapter. Paul also received his MBA from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
