Travels in Europe...

Here are a few iPhone photos snapped this past week...

At the Eiffel Tower in Paris

I had a one day business meeting in Munich during Oktoberfest - all business, no beer

This is the site of the house where we lived in Switzerland (and where Katie was born). Our old house was located between the two taller office/apartment buildings. As part of a major reconstruction of the local metro, it appears that our old landlord sold his quaint house to make way for progress.

On Sunday I attended services at Christ Church in Lausanne, which is part of the Anglican Church of England's Diocese in Europe. It was only 1.5 blocks walk from my hotel.

London Stopover

I unexpectedly got to spend part of Saturday in London. I had about four free hours and decided to due a speed tour of the National History Museum, Science Museum, and Victoria and Albert Museum. In addition, the Royal Geographic Society building was open to the public today as part of a special London-wide architectural open house.

The entrance of the National History Museum

The National History Museum had the most amazing collection of fossils I had ever seen, many dating back to the Golden Age of British exploration

This model of a blue whale was over 100 foot long!

A semi-secret passage...

...that led to a view of sculpture being (un)packed

Inside one of the meeting halls of the Royal Geographic Society - one can imagine planning expeditions to parts unknown here

Rocket Launch Preparations...

At the start of summer we got Katie a model rocket kit (an Estes Alpha III). It took until this past week for us to finally build and launch.

(If you zoom in on the above picture, you can just make out the rocket descending...)

Salvadorian Guest

This past week Father Julio Rivera, rector of our church's sister parish in El Salvador, visited our church here in Massachusetts. We took him to dinner Monday night at an authentic Salvadorian restaurant (Mi Tierra in Waltham).
